Personal Information Protection Policy

Sultan Avocat inc. collects certain personal information when you use this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, who it is shared with and how long we keep it.

1. What we collect
What you give us. When you complete the contact form: your first name, last name, email address, the area of law you select if you choose to, and the content of your message. If you email or call us directly, we collect whatever you choose to tell us.
What is collected automatically. Your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, how you reached our site and how long you stay.
2. Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry and follow up; to check for conflicts of interest before opening a file; to understand how our site is used and improve it; and to measure how our advertising performs.
3. Cookies

Analytics and advertising cookies are switched off by default. They are set only if you accept them through the banner shown on your first visit. You can change your choice at any time through the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page; if you decline, cookies already set are deleted.
The form security cookie stays active in every case: without it, the form stops working. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings.
4. Analytics and advertising
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find our site and which pages are useful to them. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you.
We also advertise through Google Ads. Google Analytics advertising features are configured, but they only come into effect once you accept. If you accept: our ads may later be shown to you on other websites after a visit here, and we receive aggregated demographic data about our visitors from Google. If you decline, none of this happens.
You can turn these features off in Google's ad settings or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
What we do not do: we do not sell any personal information, we never use the content of your messages for advertising, and information you send through the form is never shared with advertisers.
5. Who has access
Internally, only the firm members who need to handle your enquiry.
Externally, three service providers:
- Squarespace, which hosts the site and stores form submissions;
- Google, for analytics and advertising;
- Google reCAPTCHA, which protects the form against automated submissions by analysing your interaction with the page to tell a human from a bot.
These providers may process or store information outside Quebec, including in the United States, where the applicable laws differ from Quebec law.
We do not share your information with anyone else, unless the law requires it or you ask us to.
6. How long we keep it

7. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous, to withdraw your consent, and to complain to the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if our response does not satisfy you.
Send your request to info@sultanavocats.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Security and professional secrecy
The site is served over an encrypted connection and access to form submissions is limited to firm members who need it.
An important reminder: until the firm confirms in writing that a file has been opened, the information you send us is not covered by professional secrecy. Please do not send sensitive documents before that confirmation.
9. Changes
We may amend this policy. The effective date shown at the top identifies the current version.
