Careers

Working at Sultan Avocat inc.

A small firm, where you learn by doing and where each person’s work is visible.

Our workplace

A firm that trusts you with real files.

We are a small team. That changes everything: the distance between you and the decisions on a file is very short.

01

One point of contact

You work directly with the founding lawyer. No layers, no intermediary between you and how a file is run.

02

Genuine variety

Nine practice areas, from family law to immigration detention reviews. No two weeks look alike.

03

Responsibility early

You are given real work from the first weeks, with the supervision that goes with it.

Open positions

Two positions to fill.

Bar student (stagiaire du Barreau)

Open
  • Starting 4 January 2027
  • Laval office, on site
  • Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • $16.60 per hour
  • French and English
Possibility of employment after the stage.

You will work across our whole practice: family law and divorce, youth protection law, civil litigation, civil liability, medical and hospital malpractice, immigration law, bankruptcy and insolvency law, insurance law, and immigration detention reviews.

Day to day: legal research, drafting proceedings and opinions, preparing hearing files, taking part in client meetings, tracking deadlines, and the progressive exercise of reserved activities within what a bar student is permitted to do.

We are looking for someone eligible for the Quebec Bar stage, rigorous, independent, and comfortable working in both French and English.

Legal assistant

Open
  • Starting as soon as possible
  • Laval office, on site
  • Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Full time
  • $44,850 to $54,600 per year
  • French and English
No experience required. We train the person we hire.

Day to day: opening and maintaining files in Clio, managing the calendar and deadlines, correspondence, formatting proceedings, communicating with clients and court registries, and supporting billing.

We are looking for someone organised, discreet, comfortable writing in both French and English, and keen to learn how a law firm runs. Training in legal secretarial work is an asset, not a requirement. Compensation depends on experience and skills.
